The month-on-month comparison of construction was lower by half a percentage point, the CZSO added. "Year-on-year, the number of employees and their wages also increased. Although the approximate value of building permits decreased, but rather due to last year's high base," Petra Cuřínová commented on the data of the Construction and Housing Statistics Department.

The planning and building control authorities granted 6097 building permits in February, ten percent more year-on-year. The approximate value of these constructions reached CZK 25.7 billion and decreased by three percent compared to the same period of 2018. The number of started dwellings dropped by 1.8 percent to 2545 dwellings year-on-year. Conversely, the number of completed dwellings increased by 25.1 percent year-on-year, and 2968 were completed. The average registered number of employees in construction increased by 1.3 percent year-on-year in February, their average gross monthly nominal wage increased by 4.8 percent.
